Strong Medicine

Fatigue is the main side effect I have from the chemo. Mainly after I get a gemzar infusion on Thursdays at MGH I am knocked down with little energy for a day or two. I take another drug in pill form for the rest of the week, and it also slows me down but not as much... It's very frustrating for me, as it keeps me from getting much done.

I take lots of naps!

I'm actually lucky in a way, as I could be having lots of other nasty side effects... so I won't complain too much.

  1. We don't get much done either, if it makes you feel any better. Save the productivity for later- fatigue is your body's was of telling you it needs to focus on healing. Don't resist it. Listen to yourself and embrace it.

  2. well I hope yr next off week isn't was WILD as the last one. or maybe I hope it is. It was like a wonderful 5 ring crazy circus and all night gabfest. I'm still resting up! I'm hoping those chemo drugs go in there and knock the crap out of the bad cells. Love from Brooklyn, m.

  3. Hey Prift,
Remember you have also been teaching this year, and, like me and the, summer is time to make up for that with lots of naps and your body just needs some extra to go with it. Meanwhile you look great and healthy in the picture and you guys have a wonderful, whistful manner that comes through in the shot. So keep on truckin, rest, and relax--it's summer!
Hope to see you soon, if only for an afternoon or so.

  4. Dear Dave,
I am just getting back from a 3-wk trip to Spain and I'm catching up on your progress. So glad to "see" you and "hear" your great positive energy....keep it up! Please know that you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. Hi Dave,
You probably get more done in your fatigued state than most of us in full gear, so I am weighing in, like the others here, with the wisdom of listening to your body and resting and enjoying not having to to anything at all...Me, I am caring for my 2 new kitties now, Roscoe and Deena, and also my niece and nephew who are visiting from Pa for 2 weeks! So, I am real busy, but look forward to seeing you when I get back from delivering them to family mid Aug. Congrats on the P-town show! Wish I could be there for the opening!
You are still Superman to me!! And Monica is Superwoman!!

  6. Dave,
Greetings from all the Adelmans. Ian and Candice are now really married! If you would like to look at wedding photos (only a few thousand, definitely good for more naps), I'd be glad to send the website. I brought you back some genuine organic blueberries from our Maine house if you'd like them. Always good to hear from you and see the photos. If napping is the main side effect you might be giving chemo a good name! We are all sending you our love and good vibes. Lydia
