Normalcy

These weeks off are rejuvenating. I'm getting lots of rest and am able to teach without interruption. Today was the start of second semester classes, and I really enjoy these first days with new students. I do lament the fact that my best case scenario medically would be an operation that would likely keep me out of school for the rest of the year. Obviously I hope for that very thing, but I would miss the classroom. I draw LOTS of energy from students...

The fact that I don't feel sick right now, gives me some comfort. My doctors have told me that if the cancer is spreading, I should feel quite bad. So we all take this as a good sign.

I had a dream a week or so ago that I was lying down, feeling connected to the whole universe, and that a powerful white light was beaming into my abdomen, bathing me in bliss. I revelled in it until I was woken up by the sounds of Buddy struggling to stand (he's an old dog that lives with with us and has trouble standing up on wood floors). I went down and helped Buddy onto his dog bed then ran and dove back into bed trying to return to the dream. It was gone, but I vividly remember the feelings and sensations...

I'm taking it as an sign...

  4. Mr. Prifti,
I'm glad to read that you are feeling well (as you said, good sign) and hopefully making progress on this. This guy below (Jerry Brunetti) may be alternative pseudoscience, but as an organic farmer, as well as someone who "appears", at least, to have beaten lymphoma with healthy diet, he seemed like someone to pass along info on, if only just to reinforce the general, basically sound, mainstream idea that eating well may at least help adjunctively to defeat cancer - as your posts suggested a while ago you were trying to redirect your diet to (less/no red meat, no alcohol, more grains, dark green/yellow/colored veggies, fruit and berries, etc.) Brunetti is down on chemo, which isn't helpful to your approach and MGH'S, which seems to be working; but the general message of going actively after good, healthy nutrition would seem like it could at least help and support. (I realize that some foods, supplements, etc. - antioxidants - are contraindicated for chemo, as I believe they are thought to counter its helpful effects. So your doctors' opinions should be the governing ones; but just passing this along for what it's worth. (as recent prostate cancer patient myself). There are probably more moderate and mainstream healthy food sites than Brunetti also; but the possibility of cure here was at least inspirational. (CCHS'O9 parent)

  5. Also, I'm sure MGH has, or would have, discussed Proton Beam radiation therapy with you, if useful, as MGH has one of the few centers in the country; but, as it's been for prostate cancer and other cancers that are hard to reach/impossible to treat surgically, I've wondered if it might be a very helpful tool to treat pancreatic, lung, and other cancers hard to treat surgically - at least at this time. You might wish to discuss/explore Proton (Francis Burr Proton Center) with MGH if it hasn't been discussed. Problem could be though that surgery would not be possible later because radiation destroys the tissue and makes subsequent surgery almost impossible. But at the same time, radiation (proton) might treat the tumor immediately and do a better job than surgery which might never come or come much later. Just another suggestion/thought. 6. Hey Dave,
Your post gave me goosebumps and I do think it is a sign that that divine light is healing you inside and you are a glow.
BTW, my dad got through his surgery great and had a large tumor removed but is recovering really well at home. I do believe it is his keen sense of humor that really helped, ie. when the nurse asked what he brought with him, he quickly replied "condoms!" and then she said, "And what else?" and his retort: "VIAGRA"!. Not bad for an 86 year old!
Back to Florida in 10 days for more aftercare.
Much peace and love always, your devoted Korndingo
